New Library Hours
Effective October 1st, the Avon Park Public Library will have new hours.
Tue 10:30 am - 6:30 pm
Wed 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
Thu 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
Fri 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
Sat 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
Penguin Challenge
On December 20th, 2008, from 11am - 3:30 pm, the Avon Park Library will be hosting the "Penguin Challenge." The event consists of a Children's Art Contest and a Wii Game Challenge.Children who wish to submit an entry for the art contest should bring in a picture they've painted or colored with their name, age and telephone number written on the back. There will be a $50 savings bond awarded to the winner, a giant stuffed penguin and a variety of other smaller gifts will be available (subject to overall participation).
The Wii Game Challenge will be divided into 2 age groups, 9-12 and 13 & up. Winners will receive a free pizza or other merchandise from local merchants!
"How the Grinch Stole Christmas" will be shown at 2:00pm and refreshments will be served throughout the event.

Residents of Highlands County will consider libraries as the primary source for all their information needs. Library facilities will be modern, spacious and inviting with full capability to accommodate a variety of activies and services. Library staff will be well trained and capable of assistng library users in negotiating their way through the information network.
